Michael L. Lane, D.O. (?–1921) had an international reputation in medicine for his contributions to research at University of Chicago before he became an osteopath. He was stubborn about accepting Osteopathy until he could demonstrate by laboratory testing its efficacy. He wrote books on medical practice and Osteopathy, as well as pamphlets for patient education, and was a professor of pathology at the ASO as well as director of the clinical laboratory for clinical diagnosis.
